Getting Married in France

To get married in France, you can't decide to marry let's say on the beach, or in your backyard. The marriage takes place at the city hall, in the "Salle des mariages".
The mayor (more likely one of the "adjoints du maire") celebrates the ceremony.

It's difficult to get a good group picture where everybody looks at the camera!
Everybody was bored...the wait was a bit long!

On this one Jim is not hiding Sonia!

Rings and paperwork ready but the mayor depute is late!!!!!!!
The mayor depute finally arrived. He was happy to notice that his grandfather had signed Sandra's birth certificate 42 years ago.

On the wall the statue of "Marianne" and the Eagle of Nice
Anne-Sophie (on the left), did a fantastic job tranlating everything into English for Jim. She has been a great help, with a great smile!

After a little speech from the mayor depute we gave each other the rings and signed the documents. The witnesses signed too. Then "Nice-Matin"' photograph took our picture (Previous post).
